1. What makes a custom lace wig different from a ready-to-wear wig?
A custom lace wig is built specifically for you. Using your measurements, preferences, skin tone, hairline customization, and styling goals. Unlike ready-to-wear wigs, custom wigs offer a more natural appearance, better fit/comfort, and longer lifespan when properly maintained.
2. How long does a custom wig take to make?
Production time varies depending on customization level, hair availability, and current booking volume. Most custom units take approximately 2-12 weeks from the time all required information and hair (if applicable) is received.
3. Do I need to provide my own hair?
No. Hair can be sourced for you, or you may provide your own bundles if they meet quality requirements. If providing your own hair, all hair must be clean, matching, and approved before construction begins.
4. How do I know my wig will fit properly?
A measurement guide is provided to ensure accurate sizing. Proper measurements are critical for comfort, security, and a natural look. Incorrect measurements may affect final fit.
5. Can the wig be glueless?
Yes. Many custom wigs can be made glueless using adjustable bands, combs, elastic systems, and customized fitting techniques for secure wear without adhesive. If you plan to use wig tape, PU skin tabs can be sewn on the underside of the wig. These tabs help to avoid damage to the wig and knots and stops tape residue from building up on the lace.
6. How long does a custom wig last?
With proper maintenance, a high-quality custom wig can typically maintain its structure for approximately 1-3 years before natural stretching, softening, or reshaping of the lace and cap materials may begin to occur. Longevity depends heavily on maintenance habits, frequency of use, product use, and heat styling.
7. Can I colour or bleach the wig later?
In many cases, yes; however, bleaching or colouring can affect hair quality and longevity. Professional colouring is strongly recommended to maintain the integrity of the hair and lace.
8. What lace types do you offer?
Available lace options include HD lace, transparent lace, and standard Swiss lace. The best option depends on skin tone, lifestyle, maintenance level, and desired realism.
9. Will the wig damage my natural hair?
A properly installed and maintained wig should not damage your natural hair. Healthy prep underneath the wig and proper removal techniques are extremely important. The real issue is often neglect underneath the wig, not the wig itself.
10. How should I care for my custom wig?
Use sulphate-free products, avoid excessive heat, store the wig properly, and follow a consistent maintenance routine. Keep styling products containing alcohol (e.g. mousse, gel, etc.) to a minimum. Regular professional maintenance is recommended to preserve quality and appearance.
11. Do you offer wig maintenance or repair services?
Yes. Maintenance services may include washing, restyling, replacing old lace, replacing hair in balding areas, and other repair options depending on the condition of the unit.
12. Can I swim, work out, or travel in my wig?
Yes, but lifestyle affects longevity. Sweat, chlorine, saltwater, and friction increase wear over time. Secure installation methods and proper aftercare are important for active lifestyles.
13. What density should I choose?
Density depends on the look you want. Lower densities appear softer and more natural, while higher densities create fuller, more glamorous looks. Choosing excessively high density often reduces realism.
A lot of clients think “more hair = better.” Often it just looks bulky and unnatural. Luxury wigs usually prioritize realism over maximum fullness.
14. Are retainer fees refundable?
Retainers and deposits are typically non-refundable because they secure your booking slot, consultation time, materials, and customization process.
Please see Makeova Den's Policies for more information.
15. How do I place an order?
Orders are placed after the initial consultation. After submitting an inquiry form, you will receive next steps regarding consultation, measurements, payment, and customization details.
1. How long do bespoke press-on nails last?
With proper prep and application, a set can last anywhere from a few days to 2-3 weeks depending on the adhesive used, your lifestyle, and how well you care for them. The nails themselves are reusable multiple times when removed properly.
2. What makes bespoke press-ons different from drugstore nails?
Bespoke press-ons are custom-made to fit your unique nail beds and are handcrafted using a professional 5-6 layer gel system for enhanced durability, strength, and a salon-quality finish. Unlike mass-produced drugstore nails, each set is individually created using both nail images and ruler measurements to achieve the most accurate fit possible.
Makeova Den Bespoke Press-Ons Feature:
Custom sizing using both photos and ruler measurements
A salon-grade nail tip foundation
Grip-Lock Base Gel for improved adhesion and wear
Hardened Gel for added durability
Rich-Pigment Colour Gel for vibrant, fade-resistant colour
Ultra-Strength Builder Gel for reinforcement and structure
Glass Top Coat for long-lasting shine and scratch resistance
Reusable with proper care and removal
A more natural-looking, comfortable fit
Drugstore press-ons, by comparison, are mass-produced in standard sizes and designed for single use. Though Makeova Den does offer standard-sized sets, custom-sized is highly recommended.
3. How do I find my nail sizes?
Visit the Services page for instructions on taking measurements.
4. Are reusable press-ons damaging to natural nails?
Not when applied and removed properly. Damage usually comes from:
Forcing nails off
Over-filing the natural nail
Using excessive glue
Improper removal
Healthy removal matters more than the product itself.
5. How many times can I reuse a set?
Most high-quality sets can be reused multiple times with proper care and gentle removal. Extremely intricate designs may require more careful handling.
6. What is included with my order?
Most bespoke sets include:
Custom reusable nail set
Application instructions
Nail glue and/or adhesive tabs
Prep kit
Storage box
7. Which lasts longer: glue or adhesive tabs?
Nail glue = strongest hold and longest wear
Adhesive tabs = temporary wear, easier removal, best for events or short-term use.
8. Can I order a fully custom design?
Designs are limited to the designs within the Basics, Soliel, and Faya collections; however, clients may request to customize:
Shape
Length
Colours
9. How long does it take to make custom press-ons?
Production time varies depending on:
Design complexity
Order volume
Material availability
Luxury handmade sets are not instant products and may take anywhere between 1-3 business days to complete - per nail set.
10. What if my nails don’t fit?
Most fit issues happen because measurements were inaccurate. This is why custom sizing instructions matter. One complimentary resize is available should fitting issues occur.
11. Can I wear press-ons if I type a lot or work with my hands?
Yes! Check out our Keyboard Friendly designs.
12. How do I remove reusable press-ons safely?
Apply nail glue remover
Soak hands in warm soapy water and oil
Gently lift edges
Use a wooden cuticle stick slowly
Remove leftover adhesive carefully
NOTE: Fast removal is one of the biggest reasons reusable nails get destroyed.
13. Are luxury press-ons worth the price?
For many busy women, yes.
They save:
Salon travel time
Waiting time

Long service hours
They Gain:
Variety - match nail sets with outfits

Luxury press-ons are closer to wearable beauty accessories than disposable beauty products. Clients who treat them carefully get far more value out of them.
